New Mexico Wedding Rules & Regulations

New Mexico is a truly beautiful state.  It wears its nickname, The Land of Enchantment, well.  From the mountains to the desert, New Mexico's varied beauty offers many different locations in which to be married.  New Mexico's unique mix of traditions and cultures will ensure your ceremony, whether a small elopement or a grand event, will be special.  New Mexico offers beautiful venues, indoor or outdoor, in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and beyond.

We provide wedding vows that meet the legal requirements for marriage in the state of New Mexico.

Requirements to Obtain a Marriage License:

You may obtain a Marriage License through a New Mexico County Clerk's Office.  A fee is required - call the County Clerks' Office for price.

A Marriage License must be obtained before your ceremony.  

Both applicants must be present to obtain Marriage License.  

Both applicants need to be at least 18 years of age.  

Parental consent is required if 16 or 17 years of age. Both parents must be present and must provide photo ID. 

Court order is required if 15 years of age. Documentation of court order must be provided.

Both applicants are required to provide two current official forms of government-issued identification (driver's license, passport, visa, original birth certificate).  Your names must match on all forms of identification.  

Contact your local County Clerk's Office for specific requirements of US citizenship.

Additional Information:  

Marriage Licenses are issued and valid immediately.  

Marriage Licenses do not expire. 

Blood tests are not required.  

Wedding ceremony must take place in New Mexico.

You will be responsible for delivering your signed Marriage License to the same County Clerk's Office within 90 days.  They will record the marriage and issue your official Marriage Certificate.
